PATTERSON PLACE

Patterson Place opened as the MacKenzie Hotel on New Year’s day 1911. The first building to be constructed with steel and reinforced concrete in North Dakota, this fireproof hotel touted itself as the only place to dance between Minneapolis and Montana! Today, the building houses 117 affordable apartment units with 3 stories of amenity space including a rooftop terrace, on-site nurses, management, and facilities maintenance, as well as the historic Peacock Alley restaurant, bar, and event space. The project focuses its efforts on rehabilitating the two main exterior facades, upgrading energy efficiency and sustainability efforts, introducing light, space, and crossover into the community spaces for residents, and reinvigorating the historic references into Peacock Alley restaurant and bar.
