Involve Food Hub is a transformative renovation in Downtown Minneapolis, reimagining an existing building as a cafe, meal service, and navigation hub rooted in the principle of equal dignity. The project addresses a critical gap in how food access and support services are delivered by bringing hospitality and care together in a welcoming, coordinated environment that reduces stigma and supports long-term stability.
The program is designed to support both daily operations and evolving partnerships. A dual-function Cafe and Meal Service, supported by a fully modernized commercial kitchen, serves the public and those in need with equal care and quality. A clear but intentional boundary between the cafe and meal service ensures that every person, whether purchasing a coffee or receiving a meal, experiences the same level of dignity. Adjacent to this space, the Navigation Hub hosts two to three partner organizations providing job readiness support, housing assistance, and mental health services, with private consultation rooms, shared work areas, and on-site laundry and shower facilities that allow services to be delivered efficiently and with respect.
The architectural scope, led by AWH Architects, focuses on creating a durable, adaptable facility that can grow with community needs. Interior spaces are reconfigured for flexibility, while exterior improvements including a new entry sequence, outdoor seating, and a steel trellis establish a clear civic presence along Park Avenue. Plans to explore on-site solar energy and commission a local muralist reinforce the project’s commitment to responsible stewardship, cultural connection, and long-term impact.
